In Genesis 15, the Lord confirms his promise to Abram that he would bless his descendants and give them the Canaan. He cuts a covenant with Abram, a cultural practice, where both parties making an agreement walk through the blood of animals. It was a sign of their promise to keep the agreement on their own blood. The amazing thing as we read through the account is that we only see the Lord himself walk through the blood path.
